Sony is planning to expand its Xperia product line-up. The smartphone maker is reportedly working on a new Xperia device, dubbed – Sony Xperia X Ultra. This is probably not the first time you must be hearing about the handset. Renders of this Xperia phone has been making rounds on the web for quite a long time. A newly leaked press renders shows the upcoming Xperia phone to feature a 6.45-inch ultra-wide display.
MobileExpose were the first ones to report about the leaked renders of the upcoming Sony Xperia X Ultra. As per the report, the Xperia handset will come packed with a 6.45-inch display, pretty much similar to that of the recently launched LG G6 and Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+.
The Xperia X Ultra could feature a tall display, taller than the ones currently on the Galaxy S8 (18.5:9) and the LG G6 (18:9). At 6.45-inches, the Xperia X Ultra’s display could feature a 21:9 aspect ratio. Resolution hasn’t been mentioned, but based on Sony’s previous models, we can assume it may have a 1080p display with added pixels to make it longer.
Apart from the display, the leaked renders does reveal a lot more about the upcoming Sony Xperia device. The Xperia X Ultra will feature smaller bezels at the edges, however, the bezel at the top is expected to be much wider in order to fit in the Sony’s brand logo. Right next to the company logo will be the front facing camera.
The images also reveal the camera details to some extent. The upcoming Sony Xperia X Ultra will come packed with a 13-megapixel selfie shooter. On the other hand, the Xperia device is said to sport a 19-megapixel primary camera. Furthermore, the smartphone also features a capacitive button for navigation.
Renders further reveal that the upcoming Sony Xperia U Ultra will come in several colour variants like — red and grey. The company might also bring other new colours with time like Sony usually does. The new press renders doesn’t reveal any more details about the smartphone.
Previously leaked rumours tips that the Xperia X Ultra will be powered by a Snapdragon 660 processor and will be further coupled with 4GB of RAM. No details on the storage front have been revealed as of now. The renders further reveal that the upcoming phone will juice its power from a 3,050mAh battery. The battery is expected to come with a Quick Charge support. Well, these are just rumours and Sony hasn’t confirmed on any of it yet.
The key highlight of the upcoming Sony Xperia is that the handset is expected to be dust and water resistance. X Ultra will come with IP68 certification. No other details about launch, specs, and price of this Sony phone have been tipped as of now. However, if the leaked rumours are to be believed the smartphone is going to be launched by the end of this year.
Otherwise, the X Ultra is rumored to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 CPU with 4GB of RAM. 64GB of on-board storage takes care of storing photos taken by a 19MP main camera and a secondary 13MP camera. Otherwise, the device would run Sony’s version of Android 7.0 Nougat and powered by a 3,050 mAh battery capable of Quick Charge 3.0. Finally, the Sony smartphone could also feature an IP68 immersion rating.
